West Brom have ‘unstoppable’ striker on their hands in Carroll – Joseph Masi

West Brom have got a ‘genuinely unstoppable’ striker on their hands in the shape of Andy Carroll according to Joe Masi via Express & Star.

The former Premier League striker joined Albion on a free transfer as a result of Daryl Dike’s unfortunate hamstring injury sustained on his full debut for the club.

Masi was quick to remember all of Carroll’s qualities that the Baggies could be the beneficiary of.

West Brom

“He was an outstanding striker, he has got so many attributes, he is so good in the air and I was such a big fan of him when he got that move to Liverpool all that time ago.” He said as per Express & Star.

“He scored a fantastic bullet header for England I can remember. Albion this season have got balls into the box they really have. They get wide with the wing backs and get the ball into the box.

“There is no one better at getting on the end of a cross than Carroll; he is genuinely one of them players who is unstoppable.

“He is genuinely unstoppable in that area.”

Can’t go wrong

Carroll once was a ‘genuinely unstoppable’ striker, but he isn’t quite at that level in 2022.

His form in the Premier League was enough to get him called up to the England squad but he is now 33 and a catalogue of injuries seem to have taken its toll on the forward.

Make no mistake, he can still do a very good job for Valerien Ismael but Masi’s views seem to be coming through nostalgic lenses – or maybe hopeful.

He might not be as sharp as he was once, but he still has more than enough quality and his strengths will suit the Baggies.

The team have been screaming for an out and out striker who has that killer instinct in the box which Carroll has in abundance.

He is great in the air and can hold the ball up, all things he showed regularly during his short spell at Reading.

He is a great option for rotation which will allow Ismael to bring Dike gradually back into the fold without rushing him and can offer the American rest bite if needed – not bad for a free transfer.
