West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer on verge of Luton Town loan deal

Luton Town are on the verge of signing West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer on loan until the summer, according to Football League World.

The football news website reports that Luton are signing Palmer, 25, because they are selling their club-record signing Simon Sluga to Ludogorets.

It is understood that once Palmer joins the Hatters, he’ll compete for the starting spot along with James Shea.

What about Johnstone?

Sam Johnstone’s future at the Albion is up in the air as his contract expires in the summer and he’s been left out of the last two matchday squads by Valerien Ismael.

There have been widespread reports of Ismael and Johnstone being involved in a bust-up which led to his exclusion against Preston and Millwall.

Palmer was on the bench for both of those games so is Johnstone going to be allowed back in the squad now? Or are the Baggies going to sign a replacement?

Palmer needs to be loaned out really.

He’s 25-years-old and has only ever played one game for the Baggies in his entire career with us.

That appearance came earlier this season in the 6-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal in the Carabao Cup with Ismael effectively deciding to throw the match by playing an Under-12s side.

Palmer did well on loan at Lincoln last season and we feel he should be a starter at Luton, otherwise what’s the point in loaning him out?
