Steve Bruce likely to accept West Brom job today

Steve Bruce is expected to accept the vacant West Brom job today, according to David Ornstein.

The Baggies sacked Valerien Ismael earlier this week and have accelerated their efforts to rope in a replacement.

The Athletic journalist claims that the negotiations are now in their final stages and he is all but set to be the next Baggies boss.

Via his personal Twitter account, he wrote, “Steve Bruce highly likely to accept West Brom job today. Contract negotiations in final stages as 61yo closes in on return to dugout, 3 months after Newcastle exit. Would be his 12th job in management, with #WBAFC 6th in Championship”

Safe pair of hands

Bruce is not the kind of appointment that would get fans on the edge of their seats.

However, one can understand the reasoning behind the club going in that direction.

He is viewed as a safe pair of hands who can come in, motivate these players and give them the best possible chance to secure promotion.

West Brom

A lot is salvageable in the final 10-15 games on the season and a good run could see the Baggies contest for second place as well.

Bruce does have experience in the Premier League and may even be the right man to keep this club up.
