View: Steve Bruce and West Brom are a match made in heaven

West Brom and Steve Bruce are a match made in heaven after an impressive statistic was shared by the Daily Telegraph’s Luke Edwards.

He stated that Bruce has more promotions from the Championship than any other manager, making him the perfect man for the Baggies job.

The former Newcastle United manager is ‘highly likely’ to take the job following the departure of Valerien Ismael at the Hawthorns as reported by David Ornstein.

No one better

At first, Bruce seems like a hugely underwhelming appointment but when you consider this stat, he doesn’t seem so bad.

He finds himself facing a lot of criticism wherever he manages due to the style of football he plays but that could be because he is very pragmatic in his approach.

The types of jobs Bruce takes aren’t exactly the most glamorous where he can play brilliant football with expansive teams.

He is appointed to carry out a specific job and, in many cases, save teams that are in dire need of help – something that Albion could call upon.

There could be problems with this appointment in the long term as the former Manchester United player isn’t exactly a dynamic manager who can adapt his style massively.

However, the most important thing is the rest of this season and earning promotion back to the Premier League.

If the Baggies were smart, they would offer him a short-term contract. Maybe 18 months to give him a couple attempts at promotion – if needed – with potentially one season in the Premier League which again, he has a lot of experience with.

In other Albion news, David Prutton says more focus should be on West Brom players amid poor form.
