Tony Brown shares shock at how quick Bruce was appointed West Brom boss
Tony Brown has admitted he was shocked with how quickly Steve Bruce was appointed as West Brom manager.
The former Newcastle United manager was hired as Baggies manager not even 24 hours after the sacking of Valerien Ismael.
Albion legend Bomber Brown has called for everyone to get behind Bruce as the club look to secure promotion to the Premier League – something the new boss has done more times than any other manager.

“I don’t think anybody expected an appointment this quickly, but now he’s sorted things out and he can prepare for the game coming up shortly,” Bomber told BBC WM.
“Hopefully, after getting to know the players and the staff in the next few days, he can get the club re-galvanised, and get some spirit and the players behind him.
“He needs a good run until the end of the season, that’s what he’s got to do. He’s got a good track record of getting promoted from this league. What has to happen now that he has been appointed is the whole club and all the supporters have to get behind him.
“Let’s have one terrific push until the end of the season. There are a lot of games to play and points to play for, so if he can get the dressing room bubbling again – they’ve proven they can win matches at the start of the season – hopefully he can get something going.”

Effective
The decision made by West Brom to appoint Bruce as manager has certainly split the fan base and understandably so.
He is less glamorous and more pragmatic which doesn’t exactly fill Albion fans with joy when considering the football the team might play.
One thing is for sure though, results speak louder than performances and Bruce is the master of that in the Championship.
Admittedly he has been hounded out of a couple of clubs in the shape of Aston Villa and more recently Newcastle but making the step down to the Championship will really benefit the 61-year-old.
As stated, he has more promotions from the Championship to the Premier League than any other manager, statistically there is no one better to take charge at the Hawthorns.
After such a terrible end to life in Newcastle, Bruce claimed he was taking a break due to the negative impact his public hounding had on him and his family – which does make his return as manager a matter of months later quite shocking.
He is in charge now though and everyone must give him their full support.
