Alex Mowatt should be sweating over Jack Wilshere to West Brom transfer speculation
Alex Mowatt’s spot in the West Brom starting line-up will not look as guaranteed as it once did if Steve Bruce signs free agent Jack Wilshere.
On Friday [4 February], TeamTalk reported that new Baggies boss Steev Bruce is considering a swoop to sign Wilshere, 30, in order to bolster his newly-inherited midfield at The Hawthorns.
Wilshere has been available on a free transfer since the end of last season after he was released by Bournemouth but has now been linked with a return to football at West Brom.

Valerien Ismael was sacked by the Baggies earlier this week and one of the major disappointments of his time at The Hawthorns was the form of Mowatt.
After being signed on a free transfer in the summer, the 26-year-old ex-Barnsley midfielder looked as though he was a decent purchase with classy performances in August.
He scored in back-to-back wins over Sheffield United and Blackburn and at the end of September, he was also on target in the 4-0 win over Cardiff.

However, since then, it’s fair to say that the former Barnsley midfielder’s form has dropped off a cliff and it’s hard to justify Ismael’s decision to continue playing with his old captain from Oakwell.
Mowatt and Jake Livermore are two players with a lot of experience, especially in the Championship, but both have been in wretched form.
Jayson Molumby hasn’t been any better while Taylor Gardner-Hickman was overlooked by Ismael despite his impressive displays in the centre of the park.
We’re not saying for one moment that Wilshere would be a good signing for West Brom but if signing him does make Mowatt sweat over his starting spot and, as a result, sees an improvement in his performances, there’s definitely a positive to signing the ex-Arsenal midfielder.
A lot of Bruce’s new players need a kick up the backside and his midfielders are the main ones who are in need of a new lease of life.
And if they cannot improve themselves, then it’s down to Bruce to improve upon them.
In other West Brom news, unleashing one player could spark life into Albion’s bid for promotion.
