Adrian Goldberg destroys West Brom ace Jake Livermore

Adrian Goldberg has destroyed West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore for his red card against Sheffield United on Wednesday (February 9).

Steve Bruce would have hoped for a better first game in charge of the Baggies as his ten-man team suffered a 2-0 defeat at Bramall Lane.

Goldberg held back no punches on The Liquidator podcast in his assessment of the 32-year-old.

“It was reckless, it was foolish and if Livermore never plays in navy blue and white again it won’t be a day too soon.”

Loose cannon

Livermore has a knack for being sent off in the first game in charge for an Albion manager.

He did it when Sam Allardyce was in charge and we all know where that got him. He was swiftly moved to one side at the Hawthorns once the former England manager was able to bring his own personnel in.

Not too many would have any complaints if the same happened to him under Bruce. In all honesty it wouldn’t be surprising either, Livermore is past it and if the Baggies want to progress they must get rid.

He is an absolute liability and his poor performances certainly aren’t worth putting up with his ill-discipline for too much longer with five red cards in his Albion career.

Despite a loss in Bruce’s first game, it wasn’t all that bad. Whilst we had 11 players on the pitch West Brom played some decent football.

The new boss will certainly need some time to make his mark and he has one hand tied behind his back with the squad he has been given but there is still hope for promotion.

There is a long way to go and if anyone knows how to make it to the Premier League, it’s Bruce.
