West Brom defender Conor Townsend sends reassuring message to fans
Conor Townsend has reassured fans that the West Brom players are doing everything they can to turn around the team’s underwhelming run of form.
Despite new manager Steve Bruce taking charge, the Baggies suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Sheffield United on Wednesday (February 9).
Albion weren’t helped by the sending off of Jake Livermore, but Townsend’s message will be welcomed by the fans with positives to take from Bruce’s first game in charge.

“We’re working really hard to try and turn the tide because nobody is happy about the run we are on right now,” Townsend told Express & Star.
“We have the players we just need to get that result.
“It’s still very tight in the top half of the league and we need to focus on winning games. We believe we can turn this around.”
Time ticking
There were a few positives to take from the midweek result, but it was very hard to gauge just how much progress these players have made in such little time thanks to Livermore’s stupidness.

It is still bemusing how a senior professional can make such a bad decision when the team needs him most.
However, there was certainly an energy about the Baggies players that wasn’t there under Valerien Ismael. They looked to attack with conviction whilst being fairly comfortable on the ball.
Of course, there is still a long way to go but it was clear to see Bruce has had some influence already despite only being in charge for such a short period of time.
The team aren’t likely to be afforded the same amount of patience for too much longer though. Sitting ninth in the table, Albion’s promotion hopes are slowly dying out which is why it is so important for the new boss to turn things around sooner rather than later.
