Steve Bruce shares update on West Brom free transfer pursuits
Steve Bruce has admitted that West Brom are unlikely to enter the free transfer market between now and the end of the season.
The Baggies had initially been tempted to delve into the market to bolster Bruce’s squad after his appointment came after the closure of the January transfer window.
But despite starting his tenure off with a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United and now being without captain Jake Livermore for four games through suspension, Bruce says [via Birmingham Mail] it’s ‘practically impossible’ to bring anyone in to improve the team.

“Not really,” Bruce admitted.
“If there was somebody out there who we thought. These days trying to get people in from abroad, with work permits, it’s practically impossible.
“We aren’t going to give up, but there’s not much out there which is going to improve us. Okay, you could bring a body in, but if there’s nobody out there who won’t improve us then we’ll just leave it alone and give somebody else an opportunity.”
Shame
West Brom are desperate for additions to their squad, with just three central midfield options in their side for the season.
An injury to one of Molumby or Mowatt now would cause a huge crisis in the middle of the pitch.

Players like Jack Wilshere would surely be available to come in relatively quickly and also improve their team, so it’s strange that Bruce believes there is nobody out there.
However his comments about potentially giving a young player an opportunity if needs be are certainly a positive for the likes of Taylor Gardner-Hickman and Quevin Castro.
They will get the opportunity to make a big impression on the first team in some important games and possibly turn the Baggies’ season around.
