Nigel Quashie reacts to West Brom 0-0 draw vs Blackburn

Former West Brom midfielder Nigel Quashie says the 0-0 draw with Blackburn is ‘something to build on’ and has cited the next ten games as a barometer for promotion.

The Baggies stopped the run of three straight defeats but are now four games without a goal following the draw at the Hawthorns.

The point moved them up to eighth in the table, three points behind Middlesbrough who occupy the final playoff place having played a game more than their rivals.

Now Quashie, who played for the club between 2006-07, reacted to the game on his personal Twitter account and claimed the next ten games will decide how good West Brom’s chances of promotion are.

“It’s a scrap for the playoffs,” he said.

“The next ten games Luton, Middlesbrough, Swansea, Hull, Huddersfield, Fulham, Bristol City, Birmingham, Bournemouth and Stoke will be crucial and decide if this squad’s in that.”

Momentum

West Brom’s season has fallen apart over the last few months but by bringing in Steve Bruce they still have a chance to save themselves.

Bruce has managed to maintain the defensive stability that has been good for the club so far, with the club having the best defensive record in the league.

But four games without a goal, two under Bruce, is a huge worry for the team and something that needs to be fixed quickly.

There are only 15 games remaining this season, so the next ten are obviously huge but because of who they’re against they could really make or break the Baggies’ season.

Any wins would not only bring points but also a huge swing in momentum by beating some of the better teams in the division ahead of what would no doubt be a tough playoff run if they make it.
