‘A few home truths told’ – Steve Bruce reveals anger at West Brom aces following defeat to Swansea
Steve Bruce has admitted that he needed to tell ‘a few home truths’ in the West Brom changing room following their 2-0 defeat to Swansea on Monday night.
The Baggies were beaten as Bruce fell to a fourth defeat in five games as manager of the club, with just one goal scored during his tenure so far.
Fans booed the players off the pitch after the game as they fell to 13th place in the Championship table and Bruce revealed after the game in his press conference that he thinks making the playoffs is a ‘long shot’ now.

“It’s going to be very, very, difficult now I have to say,” he said.
“We needed to win tonight and get ourselves something on Saturday [at Hull]. It’s going to be a long and difficult challenge. We’re never going to give up on it.
“You never know, but it’s going to take some turnaround. We will try our upmost, but it’s a bit of a long-shot I have to say.
“What I say in the dressing room stays in the dressing room but there were a few home truths told. The reason I’ve come here – you look at the squad, everyone tells me, we’ve got a good squad.”
Shocker
As it stands, this managerial appointment of Bruce to replace Valerien Ismael may go down as one of the very worst ever.

West Brom have scored just 11 goals since October 30th and have just a single, solitary win in their last 13 games despite Bruce coming into the club back in January.
He hasn’t been able to get the team performing, but the players need a big reality check too. If two managers can’t get this side scoring goals, creating opportunities or defending well then something isn’t right.
The calibre of player in the squad is good enough to be performing at a level that should at the very least be competing for a playoff spot, not messing about in mid-table eight points adrift of the top six.
The whole club needs to take responsibility and come together, but at least Bruce has recognised that there is no time for cuddling the players and they need to be told harsh truths.
