Adam Johnson leaves behind-the-scenes role at West Brom to join England set-up
After five years at West Brom, Adam Johnson has left his role as first-team performance analyst to join the England set-up, according to Training Ground Guru.
The specialist news outlet reports that Johnson has agreed to become the men’s performance analyst for the FA.
Johnson joins Alex Scanlon at St George’s Park. He also worked at the Albion between 2013 and 2016.

Johnson confirmed on LinkedIn earlier this week that he’s left the Baggies.
He said: “Start of a new chapter today.
“Great memories from West Brom and have met some top people along the way.”
All the best, Adam
It says a lot about Johnson’s work for him to be able to get a job with the English FA, where he’ll presumably be working with Gareth Southgate and the England national team.
West Brom have always had a good core of staff away from the main players involved in the first-team.
However, in recent years, we’ve seen the likes of the academy staff decimated, potentially due to the changes that Luke Dowling enforced behind the scenes at the Albion.

Dowling left The Hawthorns last year but has left a lasting legacy that no one really wanted.
Not only did the former technical director oversee many failed first-team signings but his changes also alienated key staff members among the academy and the Under-23s, leading to an exodus.
Aston Villa now boast a set-up that’s almost identical in personnel to what the Albion had a few years ago and Dowling is massively to blame for that.
It remains to be seen why Johnson left but there’s no denying he’s taking a step up from a mid-table Championship club to the England national team.
In other West Brom news, some players had their confidence shattered by this former Baggies man.
