West Brom permanent move may backfire for both club and player
On-loan Brighton midfielder Jayson Molumby appears to be set for a permanent switch to West Brom due to the terms of his loan agreement.
The 22-year-old Irishman has played 23 times in the Championship for the Baggies this season, scoring one goal, which came in the 2-1 defeat away at Middlesbrough last month.
Express and Star journalist Joseph Masi reported on the Baggies Broadcast that the club has a contractual obligation to sign Molumby permanently after a certain number of games played although the exact figure is unknown.

“They are contractually obliged to sign Molumby based on a set amount of appearances,” Masi said.
“We don’t know what those appearances are, however, I was told when he arrived that it’s a low number that was highly likely to be triggered.”
While this might seem like good news for Albion fans considering how often he has played this campaign, it isn’t all sunshine and roses at The Hawthorns.
Molumby may have played regularly but the best performance of the past two months came at the weekend away at Hull City when Taylor Gardner-Hickman partnered captain Jake Livermore in the middle.

The two complimented each other very well and helped Albion to a 2-0 victory at the MKM Stadium which was Steve Bruce’s first as Baggies boss.
Molumby played just four minutes on Humberside as a late substitute and affected the game very little in that time.
With Gardner-Hickman and Livermore creating such a telepathic partnership in the midfield, it seems like Molumby may not be anything more than a backup next season which would make the permanent signing of the Irishman a bit of a waste.
In other West Brom news, Masi has also come out to suggest who should be Albion captain in his eyes.
