Steve Bruce reveals when West Brom ace Daryl Dike will return from ‘nasty’ injury

West Brom striker Daryl Dike has returned to training after a ‘nasty’ hamstring injury and Steve Bruce has revealed when he expects him to be available again.

Dike suffered a torn hamstring after just 53 minutes of his full debut back in January and has been missing since, meaning he is yet to feature under Steve Bruce as manager.

But the USMNT international has returned to training now and while Huddersfield will come too early this weekend, the boss has revealed in his pre-game presser that the 21-year-old has an outside chance of making the squad against Bristol City before the international break.

West Brom

“We’ve got the big boy Dike training with us today, he’s on the grass,” Steve Bruce confirmed.

“There’s another option we’ve got. I’ll tell you after today [how he is]. He’s been out there with physios, he’s been out for six weeks is it? It was a nasty one. Let’s see how he is.

“It’s still a little bit early to tell, it’s his first training session today, so I would think we’re looking possibly after the international break. Maybe the game at Bristol City, maybe after ten days if he trains well and is okay.”

Huge boost

When Dike is fit once again, it will come as a massive boost to Bruce and to West Brom as a whole.

He’s yet to be given a chance to really make any kind of impact, but in the short sightings we saw of him before his injury it was clear that he would bring something different to the squad.

West Brom

With only 12 goals scored since October 30th by the Baggies, his physical power, pace and strong finishing ability will be a welcome addition to the side.

Bruce successfully experimented with two up front against Hull and it worked, so being able to pair two natural goalscorers together will only benefit them as they look to make one final charge towards the playoff places.

They don’t want to rush him back, so it’s important not to force him in against Bristol City if he’s not ready, but he will be back after the international break at worst and it can’t come soon enough.
