West Brom will be facing a major blow if Alex Mowatt cannot pass a late fitness test against Huddersfield today (March 11).

The midfielder remains a doubt due to a muscle injury and Steve Bruce will be counting on his services.

The new Baggies boss registered his first win in charge at the Hawthorns and would want to make it back-to-back victories.

However, he may have to do so without Mowatt, who has been pivotal for the West Midlands club this season.

His absence could prove to be significant, according to Phillips, who has lauded him for his contributions in various facets of the game.

He told West Brom News, "He's been one of their best players this season.

"They've not been doing too well, but last week was a big result for them and they would want something tonight against Huddersfield.

"He's been at the heart of everything for them and has scored goals.

"He's been the leader in there so naturally, it's going to be a blow for Bruce."

The Baggies currently sit in 13th place on the Championship table - eight points away from the top six.

Should they win today, they will close the gap and also move up the table to 11th.
