West Brom ace Andy Carroll shares what Steve Bruce said to spark comeback
Andy Carroll has revealed what West Brom manager Steve Bruce told him that sparked the Albion’s comeback against Huddersfield last night (March 11).
The Baggies found themselves 2-0 down at the Hawthorns with just 10 minutes left on the clock but managed to steal a point thanks to goals from Carroll and Karlan Grant.
Carroll has shared the crucial message Bruce told the former Reading striker that sparked the comeback.

He told West Brom: “It’s such a great feeling every time the ball hits the back of the net.
“That’s part of my job and it’s a great feeling to get my first for the club.
“The manager told me to tell the other lads to get the ball in the box. There wasn’t really much going on so he told me to get in the box and get on the end of things in there.
“Semi hesitated the first time I was ready to make my run but when he eventually crossed it, it was a great ball into the box and I didn’t really have to do too much. I’m just glad I got my head on it.
“The lads showed great character and a determination to never give up. There was booing inside the ground and the lads could have given up but they stayed with it.
“We got one goal and then I got the second. If I’m being honest, we could have had another couple right at the end too.”
Silver lining
Fair play from Bruce and the team for not giving up. Even when the game looked to have got away from them and the fans booing whilst showing their discontent with the performance, they never gave up.

It obviously wasn’t the result the Baggies would have wanted but a point is better than nothing and they can take a lot of confidence from that last gasp fightback into the next game.
Carroll deserves a lot of the credit for the role he played in the fight back. He changed the dynamic of the game when he came on and afforded West Brom great respite.
The club have a huge decision in terms of what they are going to do with the 33-year-old when his short-term contract is up at the end of the season.
His performances warrant an extension but with Daryl Dike coming back and his age, that seems unlikely.
Overall, that was a hard thought point and one that could prove crucial if Albion mount a late promotion push.
