West Brom to address Andy Carroll contract in summer – Steve Bruce

Steve Bruce says West Brom will address Andy Carroll’s West Brom contract uncertainty at the end of the season amid the forward’s impressive form, as per Birmingham Live.

The former West Ham striker joined the Baggies in January as a free transfer with his short-term deal drawing to a close at the end of the season.

Carroll has been one of Albion’s best players since his arrival which has led to many fans calling for a contract extension for the 33-year-old.

“We’ll address all that,” Bruce told Birmingham Live, regarding Carroll’s future at the club.

“When the end of the season comes, there are a lot of decisions to be made on a lot of people. It’s good to see him fit, keeping well and keeping healthy.

“I think that’s his third goal, he got a couple for Reading. You’ve got to put the ball in the box for him, and we’ve managed to do that today.

“I think he started as a centre half, as he always told me. It was a great clearance as well [off the line at the death].

“He doesn’t like being on the bench, I have to tell you that, which I understand. The mobility of the other two was just something I needed to see at Hull and they did okay tonight.

“It was nice to see us get some crosses in the box for Andy.”

Extremely tough call

This one undoubtedly set to split opinions between the fans. Everything about Carroll since his arrival at the Hawthorns screams renewal.

He has been probably the best West Brom player since his arrival in January, always giving his utmost best at all times despite his age.

It would be easy for him to be on a beach somewhere relaxing after his long and successful career, but he just loves playing football and that is obvious when watching him play.

He has filled in valiantly for the injured Daryl Dike but with the American due to return next season, that is likely to leave the Englishman without a place in the team.

The former Liverpool ace only came in as an emergency stop gap and is hardly a player with a long-term future at the club, hence his initial deal.

The Baggies will be looking to get their long-term project back underway as Dike returns but could Carroll be the perfect man for him to learn from with his brilliant experience in England?

He isn’t likely to cost a great deal in terms of wages and could be a solid back up option. Albion have a tough decision on their hands.
