Chris Lepkowski thinks Andy Carroll deserves new one-year West Brom deal
Chris Lepkowski has backed Andy Carroll to be given a new one-year contract at West Brom after his impact since joining the club in January.
The 33-year-old signed a deal until the end of the current season in January when he was brought in on a free transfer from Reading. He started well and finally got his first goal in the 2-2 draw with Huddersfield on Friday night.
Now while appearing on the Liquidator podcast, Lepkowski believes he deserves to be kept on beyond this season in a role where he can help the squad and offer something different. In response to being asked if he thinks Carroll should stay, he said;

“Yeah I do. In his current capacity in being a player you can bring on, or play from the start to make an impact and maybe give defenders a bit of a battering, a bit of a bruising when needed then yeah.
“I don’t see why not.”
Why not?
Something West Brom have struggled with in recent years is their recruitment, but they seem to have got this one right largely.
Carroll has had nothing but a positive impact since coming in and while the results haven’t always gone his way, he’s almost always come out of the fire well.

His goal and performance against Huddersfield was the latest in that series, with a huge equaliser with an excellent header and then clearing the ball off the line to preserve the point.
His energy was good, he held the ball up well throughout and offered something very different to the team to what Callum Robinson had offered previously.
Having that as an option next year, when the Baggies likely will be pushing for promotion again, can’t be a bad thing and it’s worth taking the gamble with him.
