David Prutton predicts result of West Brom clash v Fulham
David Prutton said confidence will be high at West Brom following their comeback draw with Huddersfield, as they take on Fulham tonight in the Championship.
The Baggies were 2-0 down with ten minutes left but earned a 2-2 draw thanks to goals from Karlan Grant and Andy Carroll, leaving them seven points off the playoff places with eight games to go.
Sky Sports pundit Prutton, speaking in his predictions column, thinks the team will be on a high but expects league leaders Fulham to have too much for them and is predicting a 2-0 away win to all but end the Baggies’ playoff hopes.
“The penalty award may have been fortunate, but West Brom took full advantage and that was a big comeback point against Huddersfield that should raise the confidence within Steve Bruce’s squad,” he said.
“Fulham were also on the wrong end of an interesting penalty decision themselves on Saturday, but they still should have had more than enough to beat Barnsley. I think they will have more than enough to see off West Brom, mind.”
Must-win
Every game this season between now and May is a must-win game for Bruce’s squad or they can stop dreaming about the playoffs entirely.
It’s already a long-shot as it is, but wins bring momentum and will cause nervousness for the teams above them, with the final two spots still up for grabs with nobody really showing any consistency.
The manager seems to have finally settled on a system that works for him, and his team selection has been more positive and brought better results too.
Against Fulham though, who have Championship top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic absolutely flying up front, this is a Premier League side just playing out their season in the division below until it’s confirmed.
It will be incredibly tough to get a result, but Barnsley earned a point against them at the weekend and with The Hawthorns absolutely rocking you can never rule it out.
