West Brom were ‘a joy to watch’ against Fulham – Ally Robertson

West Brom turned up as a totally different team on Tuesday when they beat league leaders Fulham 1-0 at The Hawthorns, courtesy of Callum Robinson’s goal.

It was a return to a happy and bouncing Baggies fanbase as the club’s playoff hopes remained in view as their form picks up.

Ex-Albion player Ally Robertson was delighted to watch his former side do so well in midweek but reaffirmed their need to repeat that epic display again this weekend.

“It was a joy to watch, especially after the last 10 or so home games which were not the best,” Robertson said in his Express and Star column.

“The key now is to build on that display at Ashton Gate.

“Four points from the last two games is an excellent return that I certainly would have taken beforehand.

“Having just scraped through against Huddersfield – not played well at all, but at least managed to get the point – we beat Fulham, and deservedly so.

“They have set the benchmark and, fingers crossed can continue to reach those standards over the next few weeks.”

On a roll

Let’s not forget that those past two games Robertson mentions have been against Fulham and Huddersfield, two of the division’s top three.

And we got four points from that so you’d think that if we perform as we did in those games against the likes of Bristol City (Saturday’s opponents) then we can get on a real run of form.

It seems like there are teams at the top dropping points every single week in the typically topsy-turvy Championship so if we can get on a run of five or six straight wins, then we’ll quickly find ourselves not only in the playoffs but almost chasing automatic promotion again.

It seems almost ridiculous to even be suggesting such a possibility after the dreadful December-February period but it’s a testament to the job Bruce has done after a tricky start to turn things around.
