West Brom will face Bristol City in their next Championship game on Saturday (19 March) away from home.

Ahead of the match, Steve Bruce has confirmed, as relayed by Joseph Masi of Express and Star, that Andy Carroll is a big doubt with a minor knock.

Sam Johnstone has been ill but he is still expected to make the starting line-up, while Daryll Dike is set to be on the bench.

Bruce said, as relayed by Masi on Twitter: “Steve Bruce just held his pre-Bristol City presser. Daryl Dike expected to be on the bench. Sam Johnstone has been ill but is expected to make it. Andy Carroll a doubt with a minor knock.”

Big game

When West Brom managed only one win from 12 games it seemed like their play-off chances is all but over.

Steve Bruce couldn’t prevent the gradual decline and there was massive unrest among the fans.

The Baggies appeared to have withered the storm, and they can look forward with play-off hopes have been rekindled.

West Brom have picked up seven points from their last three games, including a 1-0 morale-boosting win against Fulham.

It must have given a huge boost to their confidence. While fans have started to talk about play-off chances, Bruce must tell his players to forget about it for the time being and simply focus on winning games.

The Baggies are 12th in the table, but a few consecutive wins can take them high up the table in no time. They are only six points off the play-off zone, so there’s a high chance of hitting the target.
