Steve Bruce confirms West Brom striker Daryl Dike has suffered fresh injury
Steve Bruce has suggested that West Brom striker Daryl Dike has picked up a fresh new injury.
The 21-year-old missed the 2-2 draw against Bristol City in the previous game. Bruce wanted to use him for the U23 game against Nottingham Forest at The Hawthorns on Monday (21 March), but he won’t feature.
The striker felt a tweak in his tendon in training on Friday and the club is taking precautions with him.

“Big Dike was uncomfortable in training,” said Bruce, as quoted by Express and Star.
“The idea was can we get him through and be a bit part and then play him in the under-23s game on Monday at The Hawthorns? Unfortunately, he was uncomfortable.
“It’s not quite the same injury.
“It’s a tendon further down I’m lead to believe. It’s the same leg as what he injured so we’re not going to gamble on that.
“We’re going to have to see how he is. It’s a real shame because he’s worked so hard to get back.”
Setback
Dike joined in the January transfer window from Orland City for a fee of around £7million.
He was seen as the final piece of the jigsaw under Valerien Ismael, but it has turned out to be a nightmare campaign for him.
Dike was superb under Ismael during a loan spell at Barnsley last season, and he was expected to replicate his heroics at his new club.
However, he picked up a hamstring injury on his full debut against Peterborough on January 22.

A few weeks later, Ismael was sacked by the club after a horror run of results.
Bruce wanted to use Dike against Bristol City after he returned to training earlier this month. Plans were in place to use him for at least an hour, but it’s really unfortunate that he has picked up yet another injury.
Andy Caroll also missed the game against Bristol City after he picked up a knock against Fulham.
As it stands, Dike will have to be patient to get his chance, but it’s really unfortunate how things have panned out for him.
