Steve Bruce walks out of The Hawthorns as he sees enough in West Brom Under-23s defeat

Steve Bruce didn’t bother sticking around to watch the closing phases of West Brom Under-23s losing 5-0 to Nottingham Forest at The Hawthorns on Monday.

According to Express & Star journalist Joseph Masi, Baggies boss Bruce and his son Alex, who’s a coach at the Albion, Bruce had seen enough as the Under-23s lost 5-0 at The Hawthorns to Nottingham Forest in Premier League 2.

Masi didn’t blame the Bruces for their premature exit as Richard Beale’s side were put to the sword by Forest.

Bruce had been spotted earlier on in the game on Monday night [21 March] by West Brom’s official Twitter account.

No time for this

Bruce has enough to worry about at The Hawthorns without sitting around all night and watching the Under-23s get torn to shreds for Forest.

It was quite a pasting for the young Albion players, who will have hopefully learned a lot from the heavy defeat.

Beale’s side did have a number of players involved who’d featured in the Baggies senior side before or are possibly on the verge of breaking through.

Caleb Taylor, Ethan Ingram, Tom Fellows, Jovan Malcolm and striking hot-shot Reyes Cleary were among those involved but none of them will have really given Bruce much to think about in a 5-0 loss.

Forest have a good academy so there’s no real harm in that loss and there’s no pressure on these young lads to suceed.

However, with Bruce being in attendance, it’s a shame that none of them would have really given him much to think about, especially when the senior side is performing so badly and could do with a youthful impact.
