View: West Brom urgently need to tie Dara O’Shea to a new contract
West Brom need to be very careful with their handling of Dara O’Shea as the Baggies defenders’ contract leaves the door dangerously wide open for a potential move.
The Republic of Ireland internationals deal at the Hawthorns expires in the summer of 2023 and Steve Bruce will be desperate to tie him down to a new deal after what he said about the 23-year-old.
“I like Dara O’Shea, I think he will be a future captain of this club – I really do,” the Albion boss told Express & Star.

Tying the centre-back down to a new long-term deal should be West Brom’s top priority over the summer.
Get it done.
O’Shea has been immense since he burst onto the scene the season before last.
This season has seen him struggle for games after suffering a horrible injury earlier in the season, but he certainly has a big future ahead of him and hopefully, it is with the Baggies.
This season started off rather positively under Valerian Ismael before it took a sudden turn for the worst. Coincidentally that was around the same time that O’Shea suffered his injury, and many Albion fans believe the two go hand in hand.

Tying him down to a new deal would obviously keep him at the club for longer, it would also warn off any potential buyers for the defender.
Once he gets a run of games under his belt next season, the buyers will soon start calling and the Baggies being able to name as high of a price they see fit will do no harm at all – it could even see them keep him.
It is imperative for Bruce that the better players in the squad stay for next season which will hopefully be the year they return to the Premier League – at the latest.
