West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer wanted by Lincoln – report

West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer is a summer transfer target for Michael Appleton and Lincoln, according to Birmingham Mail.

Palmer is seen as the number three goalkeeper at The Hawthorns behind both Sam Johnstone and David Button, and has struggled to earn any first-team football at the club.

Now 25-years-old, Palmer is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract at the club this summer and Lincoln are keen to end his nightmare and give him regular football in League One.

According to a report, manager Appleton is eyeing Palmer for a place in his team having spent last season together on loan.

Palmer is currently on loan at Luton after joining on an emergency deal outside of the transfer window following injury to both of their regular goalkeepers.

Time to move on

The club’s goalkeeper situation is very up in the air right now, but it’s pretty clear that Palmer doesn’t have a future at the club that involves regular football.

Johnstone and Button are both out of contract this summer but it’s unlikely both will be allowed to leave, with Button likely to be retained as the number one.

Youngster Josh Griffiths signed a new deal last summer before going back out on loan and he’s been impressive in the lower leagues, and at just 20 his stocks are much higher.

The club have a good relationship with Appleton considering they allowed both keepers to join him on loan at different stages, so a deal is there to be done.

It’ll likely be a low-money deal if any money is handed over at all, but Palmer will almost certainly continue his career away from The Hawthorns after this summer.
