West Brom trio set to return after international break

West Brom will face Birmingham at St Andrew’s after the international break in the Championship on Sunday (03 April).

The international break may have come at a good time for the Baggies with key players getting enough time to recover from injuries.

The likes of Daryl Dike, Andy Carroll, and Matt Phillips could return after the international break as the Baggies look to end the season as strongly as possible.

According to Birmingham Mail, Dike picked up a hamstring tendon injury in training and missed out on the draw against Bristol City.

Carroll also picked up a knock and missed the game against Bristol. Phillips has been out since early February with a fractured toe.

The trio are set to return after the international break though no exact timeline has been put on their availability.

Play-off target

With only eight games remaining in the league, the Baggies must treat every game as a cup final.

Only a month ago, they had lost all hopes of securing a play-off position, after they managed only one win from 12 games in the Championship.

Steve Bruce replaced Valerien Ismael but he too struggled to turn the tide, as the results and performance went from bad to worse.

However, there has been a glimmer of hope in recent weeks.

In the last four matches, West Brom have picked up two wins and two draws, and the performance has been satisfactory.

They still lie 12th in the league table but hopes have been rekindled about securing the play-off position.

West Brom are seven points behind sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers, but there’s still time to reduce the gap. Birmingham are 19th in the table and they have picked up just one win from their last seven games.

In other West Brom news, Ismael is planning to raid the Baggies in the summer with £2.5million ready to be splashed by Besiktas.
