View: West Brom fans will be relieved with Daryl Dike injury crisis decision

West Brom fans will breathe a huge sigh of relief as striker Daryl Dike makes a big decision that shows he is still committed to the club.

The American has suffered a horrible spell with the Baggies since joining for £7million in January.

A continuous battle with injuries has seen the 21-year-old only play two games for Albion with both of them coming from the bench.

A big part of the reason he joined was the influence of his former Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael and his departure from the club in conjunction with Dike’s nightmare start to life at the Hawthorns has left some supporters worried.

Furthermore, Ismael now the manager of Besiktas has planned a raid for his apparent favourite striker, according to Haber 365 in Turkey.

However, Joseph Masi’s most recent update on the forward might just ease the West Brom fans’ concerns.

He shared on Twitter:Steve Bruce just held his pre-Blues presser. Daryl Dike unfortunately is unlikely to play this season.

“Bruce offered him the chance to do his rehabilitation in America but Dike wanted to stay.”

Big relief

It would have been very typical of West Brom if their star January signing left the club in the following transfer window without barely touching the ball.

You have to feel for the lad, he has been very unlucky with injuries since joining Albion. Hopefully, this is just a freak spell rather than a sign of things to come.

Steve Bruce could really do without one of the squad – hopefully – most influential players being out injured all the time.

His decision to stay in England whilst undergoing his rehabilitation is a massive one. It shows that he is still committed and is somewhat happy there, after a torrid time so far.

If he had made the decision to go back to America for his recovery that would have undoubtedly led to a barrage of rumours that he isn’t happy there and that increased the speculation of a move to Besiktas. Maybe he understood that and decided to stay.
