West Brom likely to consider Steve Bruce future at The Hawthorns in final Championship games

Steve Bruce’s future at West Brom will probably be decided in the remaining games of the Championship season, according to Steve Madeley.

Writing via his personal Twitter account ahead of Albion’s shock 2-0 win over Bournemouth at The Hawthorns on Wednesday night [6 April], The Athletic journalist admitted that Bruce’s future could be up for consideration.

Albion moved up to 11th with their win over the Cherries but their hopes of winning promotion back to the Premier League have been dead for weeks.

Bruce out?

It’s not the best time to be talking about Bruce’s future, we admit.

West Brom’s shock win over Bournemouth reveals more questions than answers because it just shows that when the pressure is basically off, these players are capable of a performance.

It’s not entirely Bruce’s fault that we’re not going up this season.

West Brom

While the former Newcastle and Aston Villa manager hasn’t helped matters and has arguably overseen some of the worst performances of the entire season, the rot set in months before his arrival when Valerien Ismael was in charge.

And even then, you can point to before Ismael’s appointment if you want to find the actual root cause of Albion’s issues.

Firing and hiring managers isn’t helping the Baggies.

But this squad of players aren’t helping their managers either.

Should Bruce be let go at the end of the season – or even before?

That’s probably a question for another day based on the win over Bournemouth but it’s one that needs to be answered and needs to be thought about in the coming weeks.
