Sam Johnstone hits out at West Brom fan again on Twitter after win v Bournemouth

By Sam Stone

Sam Johnstone has yet again hit back at a West Brom fan on Twitter, this time after assisting Andy Carroll in the Baggies’ 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

Johnstone picked out Carroll in the 13th minute with a precise route one pass to double Albion’s lead, however, one member of The Hawthorns faithful suggested Johnstone’s long passes usually end up in the stands.

The fan said, “Makes a change that you didn’t try the diagonal to the LB… and found touch (again).

The former Manchester United shot-stopper couldn’t help but respond and took to his personal Twitter account to say: “ Ooooo, you’re hard.” He followed that with numerous laughing emojis.

Not the first time?

This isn’t the first time Johnstone has responded to criticism from the West Brom fan base.

In July 2020 a West Brom fan referred to Johnstone as the “only negative” after the Baggies secured their return to the Premier League against QPR.

Johnstone could help but reply, saying: “Another one wanting attention, there you go… lap it up and leave us to celebrate getting our club promoted.”

It seems the shot-stopper is prone to reacting to criticism that is aimed at him.

However, one assist, a clean sheet and victory over a promotion-chasing side doesn’t change the fact Johnstone has been part of a side that has underachieved this season.

The Baggies have picked up of late, with recent victories over the top two sides, however, Johnstone has been a mainstay in a team that dramatically slid down the table and out of promotion contention.

Johnstone should potentially focus on replicating Wednesday evening’s performance, rather than focusing his efforts on responding to fans on Twitter.

In other West Brom news, a staff member has quit the Albion to join Wolves.
