West Brom attacking woes could be solved by enigmatic Layton Love

West Brom may have somewhat improved their attacking output over the past month or so but it still isn’t what you’d call prolific.

45 goals in 41 Championship matches is nothing to brag about considering league leaders Fulham have rifled 94 into the back of the net in one less game this season.

Steve Bruce has overseen an increase in goals after Valerien Ismael’s struggles but there is still room for improvement in the final third.

One option Bruce does have before the end of the season is giving the Baggies’ youth players a rare chance to shine at The Hawthorns with little to play for this season.

Reyes Cleary takes the headlines for the Albion youth sides with his relentless goalscoring abilities but there is another 17-year-old who could be a dark horse for a surprise first-team inclusion.

Layton Love has quietly gone about his business this season for the West Brom Under-18s but his unpredictable ability on the pitch can cause serious issues for any defender.

He hasn’t got Cleary’s numbers behind him, four goals from 11 games this season, but he does offer a threat from a wide area which is something the senior side have been lacking in recent weeks.

Love helped the Under-18s to a resounding 5-1 victory against Leicester earlier today (12 April) by adding the fifth and final goal in the 88th minute.

Cleary scored two of his own before being substituted off with 20 minutes to go but with this result against a strong Foxes side, the future of West Brom looks rather bright.

So why not give them a chance towards the end of this season, there is no threat of relegation and only extremely vague hope of a playoff place with so few games left to play so now is the time to give opportunities and maybe discover the next gem off the production line.

In other West Brom news, Bruce says these two Baggies players will be playing for their futures at The Hawthorns this season.
