Darnell Furlong would offer nothing to West Brom under Arsene Wenger rule changes
For pretty much the entirety of this season, Darnell Furlong has been the number one West Brom right wing-back under both Valerien Ismael Steve Bruce.
And his performances have been, well, average to be kind and if Albion could find another capable player to do his job, they would have by now.
He did have a run of games as one of three central defenders towards the end of Ismael’s reign as Baggies boss but that was largely down to injuries rather than a tactical choice.

Perhaps the only thing in Furlong’s armoury that can be of use to West Brom is his deadly long-throws that can cause so much carnage in the opposition penalty area.
But if the latest proposed rule changes our forward by former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger were to happen, the 26-year-old would have nothing left to offer Albion.
As reported by The Sun, Wenger wants to see throw-ins banned from the game in favour of kick-ins, like you would get in a weekday five-a-side league for fun.
That is the message of someone still kept up at night by the thought of Rory Delap lining up a bullet throw in the red and white stripes of Stoke on a soaking wet afternoon in the Potteries.

If throw-ins are taken out of the game, Furlong will struggle to find a place anywhere in the Championship let alone here at The Hawthorns.
He’d be better off trying his luck at a sport where throwing is the only thing he has to do because, in all honesty, that’s all he is good at when it comes to the game of football.
His contract in the Midlands runs until 2025 though, according to Transfer Markt, so if Bruce wants to be rid of him, he’ll have to hope someone hasn’t scouted him that closely before making an approach.
