Stats make grim reading for West Brom ahead of Blackpool clash
The latest figures for expected goals paint a poor picture for West Brom before their latest Championship fixture against Blackpool.
According to data from eflanalysis.com, the Baggies are one of the most underperforming teams when it comes to meeting their predicted goal return, only netting 45 from a expected 67 to leave them with a remarkable difference of -22.
Karlan Grant provides the main goal threat but is unlikely to start versus Blackpool due to a recent injury. The club may look again to rely on Andy Carroll to try and give the Blackpool back-line the most concern.

Misfiring Misery
It’s been a disappointing collapse to the season for West Brom, Steve Bruce unable to significantly reverse the slump which started under Valerien Ismael that ultimately led to his dismissal in February.
These latest stats highlight what has been the main problem all season, a huge profligacy in front of goal meaning the Baggies have failed to pick up many points that were definitely within their grasp.
Carroll has at least offered some threat since coming in but he is quite clearly not a long term solution and a lot of what the club does transfer-wise in the summer could depend on what Bruce makes of Daryl Dike, the American having not played under the 61-year-old yet due to a hamstring injury suffered shortly after his January arrival.

Regardless of who ends up leading the line next year, it will almost certainly be in the Championship, and Bruce and his men will have to improve on their conversion of chances if they want to be challenging at the top end of the table.
