West Brom manager Steve Bruce fearful for his Hawthorns future
Steve Bruce is fearful for his West Brom future as he expects to come “under the hammer” following an underwhelming takeover from Valerien Ismael.
The former Newcastle United manager was brought to the club in February to rescue Albion’s promotion hopes.
Several months later, the Baggies find themselves stranded in 12th in the Championship and eight points off the playoff places and Bruce has shared a brutally honest assessment of his future.

He told Birmingham Live: “I’ve said it before, the club isn’t going to accept being halfway in the division, so my future, David Button’s future, anybody’s future, must come under the hammer.
“It hasn’t been good enough – and that includes me too.
“Rightly so, the club won’t accept it. We have to accept that we haven’t been good enough, and when you’re not good enough, you have to implement change. I hope I’m here to make it, but we’ll have to wait and see. That’s for other people to decide, not me.”
Trust him.
Let’s face it, it has been the terrible West Brom players that have hindered Bruce since his arrival.
They suffered a torrid time under Ismael and found it impossible to shirk the weight on their shoulders following the Frenchman’s sacking.

The former Hull City manager has done a much better job than his predecessor but it took the players far too long to kick into gear and even after they did, they weren’t consistent enough.
Nobody has more promotions from the Championship to the Premier League than Bruce which makes him the best man for the job.
The Albion chiefs would be stupid to sack him after just half a season with no chance of bringing in his own players but more importantly, cutting the deadwood off the squad – and there is a lot of it.
He should at least be able to see out his contract and if the Baggies aren’t in the Premier League by then, they can explore new options.
