Nigel Quashie furious with West Brom performance despite win v Blackpool

Former West Brom midfielder Nigel Quashie was furious with the sides performance despite their 2-1 victory over Blackpool at The Hawthorns on Friday afternoon.

Steve Bruce made six changes to the side but there was little change in the quality of performance as Andy Carroll and a last-minute Karlan Grant goal sealed three points for the Baggies.

But Quashie, who was at the game, took to his personal Twitter account that the supporters expect more from their team and told the players to rest up because ‘there’s no way you will get away with a performance like that on Monday’.

“They say 3pts is all that matters in this game,” he said.

“That’s all you will see at the end of this game v Blackpool. Rest up West Brom there’s no way you will get away with a performance like that on Monday.

“Supporters will be in numbers and will expect more, give them more!”

Honesty

It’s always refreshing to see pure honesty from an ex-player or someone closely affiliated to the club, and that’s exactly what this is.

Quashie has been outspoken in the past about the poor performances of the club this season, and this was another performance to add to the list of rubbish this season.

West Brom

The win is obviously positive, but it’s probably the only good thing to come out of this game. The players brought in and given a chance didn’t look hungry and won’t have given the boss a decision to make when it comes to selecting his best team.

With a big game against Nottingham Forest to come on Monday night, the players have a chance once again to push towards the playoff places with just five points separating them currently from the top six with four games left.

If Bruce hasn’t given up hope of making the top six, he’s likely to revert back to the team he’s trusted for the last few months for a result because there was nothing to suggest it’s worth changing at this point.
