Steve Bruce slams ‘frustrating’ West Brom players despite Blackpool win
Steve Bruce has insisted that the West Brom players still have “a lot of work to do” after a “frustrating” game despite winning v Blackpool.
The Baggies enjoyed a 2-1 victory at the Hawthorns thanks to goals from Andy Carroll and Karlan Grant.
With a last-gasp push for the playoffs for Albion now highly mooted as they sit five points off sixth place, Bruce played down the speculation.

He told West Brom: ”It’s nice to win the game of course, but it was still a fairly frustrating afternoon.
“We showed a little bit of resilience in terms of finding a result. We’ve scored really late on and it’s won us the game today.
“We had one real bit of quality in the first half for the first goal and then we’ve had a couple of chances to take it to 2-0.
“Unfortunately, we’ve conceded another goal from a set-piece which is disappointing and we must do better.
“But overall, I think we’re taking little steps but there’s still a lot of work to do.”
Still hope?
Make no mistake, the West Brom fans aren’t happy with that display but things would have been a great deal worse if Grant hadn’t rescued his teammates with his very late winner.

It is very worrying that months into his tenure at the Hawthorns, Bruce hasn’t been able to nail down what should be the basics with this Albion squad.
He will be raging with conceding in the manner in which they did from a set-piece – that is schoolboy stuff.
Nonetheless, it is three more points on the board and however unlikely it may be, a step closer to a late playoff push.
The teams above will have to fall apart to give the Baggies a place in the top six but all they can do is win every game from now until the end of the season and hope for the best.
In other West Brom news, Bruce is fearful for his Hawthorns future.
