West Brom must harness spirit from previous upsets to beat Nottingham Forest

West Brom will travel from the west to the east of the Midlands on Easter Monday for an 8 pm kick-off away at Nottingham Forest in the Championship.

The Baggies have very little hope left in the race for the playoffs in England’s second-tier but their hosts tomorrow are right in the mix in fifth with automatic promotion still not out of the question.

Steve Cooper has transformed the Reds since he arrived towards the end of 2021 and they have been one of the in-form teams in the entire country ever since.

But West Brom shouldn’t be afraid of Forest despite their less than ideal season because recent standout results have shown that Albion can tussle with the very best the second division has to offer.

Previously under Steve Bruce, the Baggies have managed to produce a stunning 90-minute display against both Fulham and Bournemouth, the league’s top two sides, and beat them both without conceding.

Those results also came off the back of not so glamorous form which is what they have been embroiled in for much of the season in all honesty.

Good Friday’s late win against Blackpool will certainly give the Albion players that bounce for Monday’s clash and you would expect a fast start from Bruce’s men as a result.

Cooper and Forest will be very aware of the threat West Brom pose against the Championship’s top sides and the big difference for tomorrow’s clash will be the fact that it isn’t at The Hawthorns as the aforementioned victories were.

The boss will have to remind his players of their previous successes when they have been the underdogs and if they do so again, then maybe, just maybe, the top six can remain in reach for another week.

In other West Brom news, Dean Ashton believes there are deep-rooted problems behind the scenes at The Hawthorns.
