Neil Warnock goes berserk at Nottingham Forest v West Brom ‘disgrace’ as Sky Sports show controversial footage

Neil Warnock exploded live on Sky Sports as he assessed the controversial throw-in that led to Nottingham Forest’s second goal against West Brom on Monday night.

Albion were a goal down and a man down when the linesman flagged for a throw-in in favour of the away side at the City Ground.

However, referee David Webb incorrectly overruled the linesman, awarding Forest a throw-in, which they went on to win a corner from and then score their second goal.

Jake Livermore, Conor Townsend and Andy Carroll were among the players who were furious with Webb’s decision while Steve Bruce also vented his anger at the referee and the fourth official.

At half-time, former Sheffield United manager Warnock also ripped into Webb, sharing some damning words on the EFL refere.

“Just look at that,” said Warnock on Sky Sports Main Event at half-time on Monday night [18 April, 08:55pm].

“You say it’s only a throw-in and it’s not important. The linesman’s got his flag up giving it to West Brom so they’re all coming towards the ball and they’re all out of position.

“So the linesman puts his flag up now, it’s their ball, I cannot understand why David Webb [overruled the linesman].

“He wants to be busy. It’s totally out of order and a throw-in results in [a goal].

“It’s a disgrace, I think.

“It doesn’t surprise me with David Webb.

“He gets most things right but he’s never played the game and he’ll get a letter through the post.

“That’s going to help Steve Bruce.”

Terrible officiating

We have no idea why Webb was overruling the linesman’s decision because his assistant was absolutely spot on.

Forest then launched a quick throw-in, which led to them getting a corner.

West Brom players’ continued their protests and then seemed to forget to bother to defend the corner-kick.

Kyle Bartley was either doing a very bad attempt at zonal marking or didn’t bother marking Ryan Yates at all as the Forest man won what was essentially a free header to score.

We get the anger about the throw-in but to switch off and not bother defending a corner kick is what the Albion fans are way angrier about.

It’s unacceptable and the issues stem from the very top of the hierarchy in the Baggies squad.

Livermore is not fit for purpose as a captain.

He’s not only a red card waiting to happen in almost every match but there are absolutely no leadership qualities about him whatsoever.

Livermore needs to go, as do a number of other senior players at The Hawthorns.
