Neil Warnock furious with ‘scandalous’ West Brom v Nottingham Forest footage as fourth official claim made
David Webb’s controversial throw-in decision as West Brom lost at Nottingham Forest on Monday night has been dubbed “scandalous” by Neil Warnock.
Forest scored their second goal from a corner but prior to the set-piece, referee Webb incorrectly overruled a decision by the linesman to give the Baggies a throw-in.
Albion were getting ready to take the throw when Warnock noticed that Webb was pointing it was the away side’s ball at the City Ground.

However, there was a sudden change of heart by Webb, who awarded Forest a throw and that caught West Brom’s players off-guard.
Warnock was furious with the officiating and blames the fourth official for feeding incorrect information to Webb.
“The referee ignores the linesman, who was 10 yards from an obvious throw-in the other way,” said Warnock on Sky Sports Main Event on Monday night [18 April, 10:08pm].
“They’ve come to take the throw-in, he gives it the other way, for some reason, and they go and score a goal.
“It’s absolutely scandalous.”
He added: “The lad defending (Conor Townsend) is coming up now to take the throw-in, he thinks the linesman given it his way.
“[The referee] is even pointing so the fourth official has told him because he’s all of a sudden changed his mind.
“The yellow shirts are on their way up now to take the throw-in.”

Ridiculous
It was a terrible bit of officiating by Webb.
Whether or not he was swayed by the fourth official, we have no idea why he thought it was right to overrule a linesman who had just as good a view as him and has more expertise in awarding throw-ins.
The ball very clearly came off Forest’s Djed Spence.
As a result of the confusion, West Brom players were out of position when the Forest throw was taken quickly.
All it would have taken was for Webb to blow up his whistle and if he still thought it was a Forest throw, make them re-take it fairly.
There’s no excuse for what followed though when Ryan Yates scored what was essentially a free header in the Baggies’ box at a corner.
It was terrible defending with the players still clearly more bothered about the throw-in being awarded against them.
If only the players showed the same amount of passion towards that throw-in as they have done playing for West Bromwich Albion this season, they wouldn’t be in this mess.
