West Brom have fifth costliest squad in Championship
Kieran Maguire has recently shared squad cost for every club in the Championship which shows West Brom as the fifth highest side.
It took £85million to assemble their playing squad – which is only lesser than the top two sides Fulham and Brentford, as well as Sheffield United and Stoke City.
The Blades were in the Premier League for two seasons so it’s understandable why their squad is more expensive than the Baggies.
Via his personal Twitter account, Maguire wrote, “The total cost of all the squads in the Championship per their most recent accounts come to £1,193 million. Over a third of the total relates to two clubs.”
Despite assembling such an expensive squad, Baggies find themselves closer to the relegation zone than the top of the table.
They have spent on players that are clearly not Premier League levels and also appointed managers that cannot guarantee top-flight status.
Had there been a proper structure in place behind the scenes, they would not be splurging exorbitant amounts of money on sub-par players.

The fans will certainly be fuming with the way things have been run and this season has been an extremely frustrating one.
Should they fail to secure promotion in the following season as well, we wouldn’t be surprised to see unrest reach an all-time high.
In other West Brom news, an English club is increasingly confident of beating their rivals to sign a Baggies player this summer.
