West Brom journalist quashes rumours of Sam Johnstone holiday
Express & Star journalist Joseph Masi has rubbished whispers that West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is currently on holiday.
The 29-year-old is already leaving The Hawthorns in the summer when his contract expires and talk was swirling among fans that manager Steve Bruce had given permission for the wantaway star to jet off early.
But now Masi has dismissed that gossip, taking to his personal Twitter account to report that Johnstone was still taking part in training as normal.
“Been some bizarre rumours going around Sam Johnstone is on holiday and Steve Bruce gave him permission to go,” said the reporter.
“That’s not true, he is training as normal.”
Chinese Whispers
Whenever a club confirms a player will be leaving there’s always a rush amongst reporters to grab the latest swoop on where they may be heading.
Scrutiny on Johnstone’s future is intense at the moment given the season hasn’t even finished yet and his banishment from first-team involvement by Bruce.
However the suggestions that he is already on the beach and sipping cocktails whilst awaiting his summer move is a tad disrespectful to who has put in some really solid displays for the Baggies, despite his intention now to part ways.

It is a shame that Albion won’t be receiving a fee for the stopper given the value he would’ve held had the club had him under contract, but ultimately they are powerless to stop it and need to move on.
The sooner silly gossip around his future ends the sooner the club can start sourcing a replacement.
In other West Brom news, the Hawthorns has been touted as the latest potential destination for this star midfielder.
