Steve Bruce must sign Dwight Gayle in the summer for West Brom

Steve Bruce will be in charge of West Brom next season as the club made the sensible decision to stick with one of the most experienced managers in English football.

The present campaign has been a disaster for West Brom and Bruce can’t be blamed for failing to guide the Baggies to promotion, although he probably didn’t imagine the task would be this difficult when he took charge from Valerien Ismael.

Next summer, it’s going to be massive for the Baggies. The squad needs a massive overhaul.

However, with money not available in plenty, Bruce must look to wheel and deal to get players of his choice, mainly using his good contacts in the Premier League.

Signing a striker is a priority, and Bruce must return to his former club to bring Dwight Gayle to the Championship once more.

Karlan Grant has done well this season, while Daryl Dike is set to return from injury in the coming weeks. Bruce needs one more quality striker upfront who can guarantee him goals.

Gayle has managed only seven appearances for the Magpies this season. He has a contract at St James’ Park till 2024, but the mega-rich club could look to cut ties with him, even for a measly transfer fee.

The 32-year-old striker scored 24 goals for the Baggies during his loan spell in 2018-19. He has scored 144 goals in his career and surely has got plenty of football left in him.

Back in December, The Telegraph reported that the Baggies were keen to sign him, but the deal didn’t materialise. This summer, they must not miss out on the opportunity to lure him away from Tyneside.

Bruce would be looking to sign players who are proven quality and Gayle is the ideal striker for him to kick-start a new revolution at the Hawthorns.

In other West Brom news, Bruce is ready to open talks with a national team manager to beg him not to select this Albion ace for the summer fixtures.
