West Brom doing ‘crazy business’ in selling Sam Johnstone – Carlton Palmer
West Brom manager Steve Bruce will have a very busy summer ahead of him as he looks set to lose two of his goalkeepers on free transfers.
David Button, who has started the last handful of games, will see his contract expire and no new deal has been put in front of him but they have offered an improved contract to Sam Johnstone.
But he is hopeful of gaining a move to the Premier League and will leave The Hawthorns at the end of this season to try and boost his England World Cup hopes.

Carlton Palmer cannot fathom why the Baggies are letting him go for free though as he thinks Johnstone could have brought in an eight-figure transfer fee for the club.
“They’re going to lose Sam Johnstone on a free, which is crazy business,” Palmer said to Give Me Sport.
“Why not let Sam Johnstone go last season if you’re not going to get him to sign a new contract? Why not let him go and get £10m-£12m for him rather than let him go on a free, it’s just crazy.”
Forget him
Johnstone has made it perfectly clear that he has no interest in extending his stay at The Hawthorns so let’s get rid of him now.
Send him on holiday, do whatever to get him out of the club dressing room and focus all our attention on those who do want to be here.

Button may want to stay for another year or two but do we want him? We’re not so sure that he is worth offering a new deal to.
Alex Palmer is primed and ready to be the club’s number one and it is actually baffling as to why he isn’t being given the nod between the sticks over the ageing Button.
If Bruce had any sense at all, he would be trying both keepers to see which he wants to invest in for next season but he is being very stubborn about not playing Palmer.
With just one year left on his deal, no one would blame the seemingly third-choice for trying to get out while he can.
In other West Brom news, Bruce made a bold statement on his team selection after yesterday’s bore-fest against Coventry.
