West Brom want to sign Millwall winger Jed Wallace

West Brom are ready to enter the race to sign Millwall’s talismanic winger Jed Wallace on a free transfer this summer, according to the Express and Star.

The 28-year-old is enjoying a sensational season at The Den with six goals and a huge 11 assists helping the Lions towards a playoff push although they are three points adrift of the top six with just two games to go.

With his contract expiring at the end of this season, clubs are already beginning to circle, ready to pounce if, or more likely when, he makes the decision to leave having been at the club since 2015.

The former Wolves attacker is supposedly expected to be heading abroad rather than staying in England but the Express and Star believe that Steve Bruce is “understood to be a big fan of the 28-year-old.”

One of the clubs abroad trying to tempt him away from Millwall, according to the Express and Star, is Besiktas in Turkey where ex-Baggies boss Valerien Ismael now manages.

Epic talent

Millwall might be up in ninth but you can’t underestimate just how much of that has been down to Wallace’s incredible season.

His almost impeccable delivery and fantastically smart footballing brain are just two of his best assets that has seen him terrorise the very best of the Championship for much of his career.

Bruce would be a very smart man to bring him to The Hawthorns as someone who you can write into the side with a permanent marker rather than those who are currently pencilled in.

He would walk straight into the Albion side right now and his adaptability to play on either wing as well as in behind a striker makes him a very sought after player.

There are understandable attractions to going abroad to Besiktas or anywhere else and Nottingham Forest, who are also sniffing around, could offer him Premier League football which is why the Baggies need to get their noses in fast.

In other West Brom news, the boss was cagey when he was asked about the future of this Albion ace this week.
