View: Trialist scores for West Brom under-23s on Friday, new signing could be on cards

West Brom are already plotting for next season in the Championship with no chance of promotion to the Premier League.

Steve Bruce has already been backed and will keep his post next season, with a summer rebuild expected.

Plenty of under-23 faces could likely feature in the final game of this campaign, with an eye to next season.

That leaves the under-23s with limited options, but also space for new recruits moving forward.

The young Baggies entertained Stoke on Friday evening [29 April] and that was clear in their team selection.

As shared on Twitter, West Brom had four trialists starting and a further one on the bench to come.

One certainly made a big impact in the opening 45 minutes, scoring on his debut in what was described as a “great” strike.

New signing on cards?

There aren’t many better impressions you can make than finding the back of the net on your potential debut for the club.

West Brom have lost plenty of academy talents over the years, and it is about time they started rethinking that strategy.

Bringing in some fresh faces will be the first stage of that, and making sure that we have plenty of strength in depth to come through at all levels.

With the first-team pathway clear, as shown by the likes of Taylor Gardner-Hickman this season, there are no reasons why it shouldn’t appeal to the best young talents.

It is time to make our moves early and get in some fresh faces and get them settled ahead of next season already.

New signings are certainly on the cards.
