West Brom face 'huge battle' for MK Dons starlet Scott Twine

West Brom are set for a “huge battle” to sign MK Dons attacker Scott Twine in the summer transfer window, according to reports by TEAMtalk.

The forward has set League One alight since making his move to Milton Keynes scoring 20 goals and notching 13 assists in 44 league games.

A host of clubs are also eyeing a move for the 22-year-old including Burnley, Norwich, Middlesborough and Stoke.

MK Dons could earn more than ten times the £300,000 they were ordered to pay in compensation they were ordered to after picking up the youngster for free from Swindon Town.

Forced.

The Dons may not have a choice in keeping this season’s star man. He will likely leave the club if they are unsuccessful in their promotion push and having lost 2-0 in the first leg against Wycombe on Thursday [May 5], things aren’t looking too good.

Despite losing a player of massive quality, they should be very happy if he does leave. The money they could earn on his sale to be reinvested back into the squad is mental but given his age and quality, it is more than justifiable.

He has undoubtedly been their player of the season which is why several Championship and Premier League clubs are circling.

The West Brom squad is crying out for a player of his quality in the middle of the park. All season long they have lacked that crucial link-up play between defence and attack and Valerien Ismael and Steve Bruce have massively struggled because of that.

It will be very difficult to prise him away from the other clubs interested in the starlet but it would be a great sign of intent for next season if Albion can.

Twine is the perfect player to spark a long-term rebuild at the Hawthorns.
