West Brom ‘optimistic’ of signing John Swift in the summer – Steve Madeley
West Brom are “optimistic” about sealing a deal to sign John Swift across the upcoming summer transfer window, according to Steve Madeley.
The Athletic journalist has reported that the Baggies want to sign the free agent, and are confident he will get fans excited at The Hawthorns should they bring him in.
Writing in his latest piece for The Athletic this week, Madeley shared the hope from inside the Baggies camp regarding one of their big targets.

“He already knows who he wants,” he wrote.
“Albion are optimistic that John Swift, the out-of-contract Reading midfielder, can be persuaded that The Hawthorns is the ideal stage to show off the talents that have made him one of the Championship’s most prolific creators, even in a team that has struggled this season.
“Swift does things that gets fans excited.”

Good business
West Brom will be going into the offseason hoping to strengthen the squad ahead of the next campaign for a push to return to the top-flight of English football.
In that regard, signing a playmaker like Swift will be a major coup for the club as he not only brings experience to the squad but his ability to score goals at important junctures might prove to be a valuable asset for the Baggies.
The former England U21 was inspirational for Reading in a campaign where they managed to avoid relegation by a whisker as they finished on the 21st spot in the points table, just four points ahead of the drop zone.
Swift scored 11 times and provided 13 assists for Reading in just 38 matches, a performance that must excite the West Brom fans, especially if their club will be able to get the 26-year-old on a free transfer.
In other West Brom news, this player dubbed the “Championship Zidane” needs to be brought back into the fold next season.
