West Brom: Callum Robinson denies to comment on COVID-19 vaccine

West Brom attacker became the first English-based player to publicly deny the COVID-19 vaccine back in October 2020 and he’s spoken for the first time about it.

The 27-year-old, who played all but three of the Baggies’ Championship games last season, revealed his decision while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland and it’s with the same side he’s revealed almost all on the matter.

The news garnered media attention from all over the world and Robinson admitted that it was unlike anything he’d been involved in before.

“It was different,” he said, as quoted by the 42. “But to be fair, I didn’t think it was that big a thing and then it blew up. But I just wanted to get on the pitch really and do my thing and let my football do the talking.

“It wasn’t even a conversation of whether I was right for the Saturday, it was just, ‘How are you, are you okay, we are here for you if you need anything’.

He was then asked if he had now received the vaccine but remained quiet on the matter, saying: “I don’t want to talk about that today. It’s done now, so we’ll just move on.”

Not a worry

Back in 2020 when COVID-19 was the talk of every town, this would be a major news story and it was for some time but we’ve all grown immune to it now, as always happens with viruses like this, so it’s not an issue.

Robinson knows that by not taking the vaccine, he is only endangering himself if he were to catch it at any stage and he is obviously happy with those circumstances.

We have to assume that he still hasn’t been jabbed given how quiet he was on the subject and his desire to move the conversation on.

Steve Bruce must already know about this and be happy to keep him around regardless even though regular testing has largely disappeared from football as we returned to normality last season.

From a fan’s perspective though, we couldn’t care less what vaccines he has in his system if he helps to fire us back to the Premier League next season.
