Ben Foster picks out West Brom as former club he’d like to return to as a coach
Ben Foster has admitted he will be a West Brom fan for life and picked them as the former club he’d join to be a coach if he had to choose.
Foster spent seven seasons at the Hawthorns as first-choice goalkeeper before leaving in 2018 after they were relegated from the Premie League.
The former Manchester United stopper was asked by a fan during his podcast ‘Fozcast – The Ben Foster Podcast‘ [May 29] which of his former clubs he would return to to become a goalkeeper coach, and the former Baggies stopper didn’t hesitate with his answer.
“It’s a good question,” he said. “I would probably pick West Brom. I’d go back to West Brom, be goalie coach at West Brom.
“Just because it’s like I say, we’ll always be West Brom fans me and the kids. So yeah, it’s a really nice family oriented club as well to be fair.
“But I don’t want to be a goalkeeper coach to be fair, let me get that out there. I don’t want to be a goalie coach.”
Love
Foster was a fan favourite throughout his time at the club and it’s nice to see that he feels the same way about us as we feel about him.
His time at the club was largely successful as they managed to stay in the top flight for a long period and when he left it was because it was the best option for everyone, including himself and the club.

The club are facing a goalkeeping situation this summer with Sam Johnstone leaving the club and all of David Button, Alex Palmer and Josh Griffiths looking to compete for the number one spot.
Foster said he doesn’t want to drop down to the Championship next season and he doesn’t want to be a coach, so the reality is that this won’t ever happen, but it would be nice if he could come back at one point just for a final farewell.
