West Brom legend Ally Robertson excited about goalkeeping options for next season
West Brom legend Ally Robertson believes that it is a ‘great sign’ for the club to have good goalkeepers ahead of the next campaign.
The Baggies fans will be seeing two new faces between the sticks next season after the departure of Sam Johnstone.
David Button and Alex Palmer were handed improved deals last week and Robertson believed that both will push each other to cement a spot in the starting XI.

“It is a great sign that we have got two great goalkeepers ready to push each other next season. Competition brings out the best in players,” Robertson said. “Both the goalkeepers will be giving their all from next season,”
“David Button had a brilliant end to the season. He already has around 160 Championship games under his belt. Palmer has enjoyed his loan at Lincoln. It is going to be good to see both of them slugging it out to be West Brom’s No.1”

The Button-Palmer combination
West Bromwich Albion always have a history of being resilient and frustrating for the opponents to play against. Even the biggest Premier League sides, at times, have struggled to break their sides down the years.
By having David Button and Alex Palmer in goal, they will give their opponents more reasons to be frustrated about. The 33-year-old Button has played 900 minutes of the Championship this season, having an average rating of 6.4. In the 10 games he has played, he managed to keep four clean sheets.
Even though Palmer is still looking forward to making his first official appearance for the Baggies, the Englishman has enjoyed plenty of good spells, mainly with Lincoln.
With the Imps, the 25-year-old played 46 games in League One and kept 19 clean sheets. In the previous season, he kept 14 clean sheets in League Two with Plymouth Argyle.
With that kind of numbers, West Brom fans will feel that their team is well-covered, at least in the goalkeeping department.
