West Brom have ‘immediate’ plans to sell with four players on transfer list

West Brom are going to have to sell players this summer before they can begin to invest in the playing squad, according to the Express and Star.

The Baggies have already gone out and signed Jed Wallace and John Swift on free transfers from Millwall and Reading respectively but any further additions may have to wait until players have left The Hawthorns.

That is, at least, the “immediate focus” for Albion and Steve Bruce does not want his squad to become bloated which requires players to leave with four senior pros on the transfer list.

Callum Robinson, Kyle Bartley, Cedric Kipre and Kenneth Zohore are the quartet that West Brom are willing to listen to offers for over the next few weeks as the club also want to reduce the wage bill where they can.

Hamza Choudhury is one target they could go after once players have left but Leicester City are currently holding out for Albion to play 80% of the 24-year-old’s wages.

Roll up, roll up, footballers for sale!

The aforementioned quartet are probably the correct names to be on such a list if we have any aspirations whatsoever of mounting a promotion challenge of any description.

Bruce knows that this current group of players is not capable of that despite the added creativity that Wallace and Swift bring to the table and there are individuals at The Hawthorns who need a new start somewhere else.

Clearing out some of the players who failed for us in the Premier League is a logical next step but we have to be careful not to lose so many players that we don’t have a deep enough squad to contend with a 46-game season and the added dilemma of a months break for the World Cup.

West Brom fans are patiently waiting for the green light to come on for the club to go out and start spending money this summer but that doesn’t look likely to happen for a while yet.

In other West Brom news, despite being in the market for another striker, Bruce has already decided on his first-choice number nine for next season.
